PES Chart

“PES series” is a thermoplastic polyester hot melt adhesive and has excellent heat resistance.  Its molecular formula is designed for various hot melt applicators. Selection of the proper grade depends upon the application and the applicator used.  PES granules, powder or solution is available as well as film, web or dispersion with powder.

There are many specific PES grades for the application to fusible interlining, metal bonding, inflammable grades to electric, good resistance to gasohol, foam melt process (Nordson’s applicator), which can be used by various applicators.

Some PES grades were approved under the regulations of the Japanese foodstuff packaging and tools for the foodstuff application, and are composed of raw materials approved under FDA 175-300.

FEATURES

  1. Possible to use PES under a wide range of temperatures. It is possible to use PES within 40°C to 150°C temperature.
  2.  Possible to apply PES to various adherents.  PES can be applied to various metals, plastics, fabrics, and woods, especially to soft PVC without any primer.
  3. Various applicators are available.  Since there are various viscous types of PES grades with the same melting point, it is easy to use PES with common hot melt applicators, hot melt roll coaters, extrusion molding machines, etc.
  4. Various PES types are available.  There are PES powder, film, web solution and dispersion types in addition to standard block and pellet hot melt types.
  5. Specific PES grades for specific applications. There are many specific PES grades for the application to fusible interlinings, metal bonding, foam melt processes, gasoline alcohol solution, and inflammable grades for electrical appliances.
  6. High speed bonding is possible.  Since PES has high crystallinity, it has a short setting time and instant bonding is possible.
  7. Good, flexible and soft PES surface after melting. Since the Shore Hardness of PES is less than two thirds as compared to that of Nylon resin, wide surface bonding with PES is possible due to its softness, without wrinkling, or orange skin formation.
  8. Excellent resistance to chemicals.  Since PES has excellent resistance to chemicals, it can be used where gasoline, oil, and solvent thinners are contacted.
  9. No harm, no danger, energy saving.  Since 100% solid resin is as effective as hot melt adhesive, PES is a harmless and safe material.  It bonds with less than one tenth of the engery required by emulsion type adhesives.
  10. Reduction of total cost for the bonding.  It is useful to apply PES for the reduction of total cost of various products because it is easy to use in automatic production processes and allows one step bonding.
